What to know

  • Skin renews on a cycle of roughly a month, so change shows up over weeks, not days.
  • A short routine you keep beats a long one you skip.
  • Daily sunscreen is the step that protects every other step.
  • Regular visits let your esthetician adjust your plan as your skin changes.
  • Start where you are. Cleansing well at night is a great first habit.

Why do I never see results when I try something new for a week?

I hear this a lot from clients: "I tried it for a week and nothing happened." I get it. We all want to see change fast. I have done it myself. Years ago I started a new product, got impatient after about a week, and put it back in the drawer. A few months later a client asked me about that same product, and I realized I had never given it a fair chance.

Here is the part that surprised me when I first learned it. Your skin is always renewing itself. New cells form deep in the skin and slowly move to the surface, and that trip takes about a month for most adults, and longer as we get older. So a week is simply not enough time for your skin to show you what a change is doing.

What does consistency actually look like?

It does not mean ten steps and a shelf full of bottles. It means a few steps you will really do, most days, for long enough to see how your skin responds.

Think of it the way you think about fitness and eating well. One workout in a month will not change how you feel, and neither will one salad. Strength and energy come from showing up again and again, week after week, long before the mirror agrees. Skin works the same way. The care that makes a difference is the care you repeat.

  • Cleanse well at night, so the day does not stay on your face.
  • Use the one or two products your skin needs most, and keep them simple.
  • Wear sunscreen every morning, even on cloudy days and in the car.
  • Give a change a full month before you decide if it works for you.

What if I miss a night?

Then you miss a night. Skin is forgiving. What matters is the pattern over weeks, not one perfect day. Start again the next evening and do not carry the guilt.

Why is sunscreen the step that matters most?

Every other thing you do is easier to see when the sun is not undoing it. UV light reaches us on cloudy days and through car windows, which is why many of us notice more sun damage on the side of the face that sits next to the driver's window.

A daily sunscreen is the habit that protects all your other habits. If you only add one thing this month, make it this.

How does professional care fit in?

Home care is the daily foundation. Visits with your esthetician are where we look at how your skin is really doing, clean up what home care cannot reach, and change the plan as your skin, the seasons and your life change.

That is the idea behind the Boho membership. It is a way to keep regular care on your calendar, with a plan built around you. If you are not ready for that, it is just as good to start with a single visit.

Where should I start if I am new?

Come in for the New Client Facial. We begin with a conversation about your skin, your routine and your goals, and you leave with a simple plan you can actually keep. You can book online any time, from your phone or your computer.

Questions people ask

How long should I try a new skin care product before deciding it works?

Give it about a month, which is roughly one full skin renewal cycle. If your skin feels irritated at any point, stop and ask your esthetician.

Is it better to do a lot of steps or a few?

A few steps you will keep. A short routine done most days is better than a long one that gets skipped.

Do I really need sunscreen every day?

Yes. UV light reaches your skin on cloudy days and through car windows, so a daily sunscreen protects the rest of your routine.

I am new to Boho. Where do I start?

The New Client Facial. It begins with a 15-minute consultation so your esthetician can build a plan that fits your skin and your schedule.
